In 2020, Iceland experienced a 40% increase in night-life crimes creating an unsafe environment for young women. A prevention program has been introduced to eliminate sexual assaults crimes in the partying scenes.
The Prime Minister mentioned that Gender Equality Education has also been introduced in the Primary and Secondary Schools’ Curriculum where students find a safe space to speak up, making Gender Equality not only for women and girls but also for Men and Boys.

Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir shares common practices, sighting examples in Iceland on how Institutions can develop social and technological solutions for the protection of individual rights.
The Iceland Reykjavík metropolitan police for example, launched an online service portal for victims of sexual violation allowing them a direct and remote digital access to the development of their cases. This means that the victims can monitor their cases when it moves stages within thr criminal justice system. This eases some of the uncertainties that the victims have described as the most difficult part of seeking justice.
