On 7 March 2026, BPW International marked its 95th anniversary with a distinguished Gala Dinner in New York, bringing together leaders from around the world in a moment of celebration and reflection.
A highlight of the evening was the Candle Lighting Ceremony, a deeply symbolic tradition representing unity, continuity, and the shared values that connect BPW women across generations and borders.
The Gala also featured a significant moment of recognition: following unanimous approval by the International Executive, Harriet Farber Friedlander was named a BPW International Fellow – one of the organization’s highest honors.
At 96, Harriet embodies a lifetime of leadership, global engagement, and commitment to women’s empowerment. From her early involvement with the United Nations to her role as Co-Founder and CEO of Academic Arrangements Abroad, and her many years as a BPW UN Representative, her contributions have left a lasting global impact.
Her recognition reflects the essence of BPW’s mission: honoring women whose leadership inspires across generations.
Celebrating 95 years of achievement, the evening reaffirmed BPW International’s enduring commitment to building the future with vision, unity, and purpose.
