BPW International expresses its deep solidarity with the women and girls of Iran who continue to face intolerance, repression, and state violence for asserting their fundamental rights and human dignity.
We are profoundly concerned by the persistent violations of women’s rights, including restrictions on personal freedom, freedom of expression, and peaceful assembly, as well as the disproportionate use of force against women who advocate for equality and justice. No government should respond to calls for dignity, autonomy, and participation with fear or violence.
Women’s rights are human rights. The courage shown by Iranian women—often at great personal risk—reminds the world that equality, justice, and freedom are not privileges granted by authority, but universal rights that must be protected and upheld.
BPW International calls on the authorities to cease all forms of violence and intimidation against women, to respect international human rights obligations, and to ensure accountability for abuses. We also call on the international community to remain vigilant and to continue advocating for the protection of women and girls in Iran.
To the women of Iran: you are not alone. Your voices matter. Your struggle is seen, and your resilience inspires women around the world who stand with you in solidarity, dignity, and hope.
In solidarity,
