On 26 May 2026, BPW International hosted the online webinar “Agriculture, Nutrition & the Power of Communication”, promoted by the BPW International Agriculture Standing Committee and the BPW International Public Relations Standing Committee, in cooperation with the BPW International Mobility Task Force.
Moderated by Veronica Boldrin and Géraldine Crevat, the meeting brought together different perspectives on food security, sustainable agriculture, public relations and the role of women in agricultural systems.
After the opening remarks by Katia Reda and Cristina Gorajski Visconti, the keynote speech was delivered by Antonio Onorati, farmer, advisor and expert in agricultural policies and food systems governance.
His presentation, “The Global Call for Agriculture and Nutrition: From Expo 2015 to Today”, offered an overview of global food security from 2015 to 2026, showing how hunger, access to food, climate change, conflicts, international policies, commodity prices and financial speculation are part of the same complex system.
Following his speech, Katia Reda focused on the crucial role of communication in agriculture and sustainability: transparent storytelling, the relationship between farmers and consumers, digital tools, the fight against misinformation and the need to give more visibility to sustainable practices.
A concrete testimony came from Diana Harrouz, co-founder of Zaitounati, a Lebanese family business producing extra virgin olive oil, natural soaps, table olives and herbal tea made from olive leaves. Her contribution showed how communication can help small agricultural businesses explain the value behind their products, territory and daily work.
Cristina Gorajski Visconti then introduced the contribution from the FAO Museum in Rome, offering a further perspective on the connection between agriculture, nutrition, culture and public awareness.
At the end of the meeting, BPW International President Diana Barragan announced the launch of the BPW Award for Women in Sustainable Agriculture, dedicated to highlighting best practices and women’s contribution to sustainable agriculture.
To further explore the Award, a new online meeting has already been scheduled:
